Combining the power of Health Coaching, Counselling & Mindfulness I support those who have arrived at midlife feeling exhausted, unhealthy or just plain stuck to finally put themselves first, and take back control of their life, their health and their future.
November saw the launch of the Healthy Brain, Healthy Mind, Happy You workshops. Twenty four people attended either online or in person and we had a fun and informative time exploring how to use food and lifestyle choices to influence our mood, mental health and brain health in a positive way. We also learned how making these changes can reduce our risk of developing future illnesses such as Dementia and Alzheimer's.
As a follow on from the workshop success we are running a 2024 - Year of my Brain challenge where each month of 2024 a group of us commit to making one small change to improve our brain health. It is always more fun tackling change in the company of like-minded people, we can encourage each other and share our successes and struggles. And small changes made over time really can make a long-lasting difference to our health and well-being. Cheese and wine naturally get better with age, but often we don't, especially when it comes to health and well-being. At 55, I was tired, overweight and showing all the signs I associated with midlife and getting older. Low energy, brain fog, stiff joints, lower back pain, an ever-expanding waistline and a growing feeling that my life was going downhill. Sound familiar?
Now at 65, I am rarely tired, am four stone lighter, have a clear mind and no aches and pains, and have enough energy to do what I want. I now feel that it is my life expanding rather than my waistline and that the world is full of potential and opportunity. So what happened in between?
Well, you can find out more about my story at my Glowing Older workshop, but in a nutshell my passion for health and well-being grew out of a desire to challenge the view that led me to put all my midlife woes down to normal ageing. It turned out my aches, pains, fog, and fat were nothing to do with my age, otherwise, being 9 years older, I would still have them. They were in fact were due to something else, something over which I discovered I have more control than I imagined.,
